nwhit
Just updated to the new APub 2.4.2 beta a few minutes ago and it crashed on quit. Sadly, when reopening ot lost everything - no fonts, no assets, all Studio layouts gone, all prefs gone. I have Time Machine backups and I tried restoring what I could remember, but still nothing. Could someone itemize the files that need to be restored to get me back to 2.4? I don't want to have to start from scratch and rebuild everything, just don't have the time. Pyanepsion
Hello, @nwhit, See if the solution I've found, taking all the linked Affinity resources created in an older version one by one, wouldn't solve the problem. walt.farrell
After the install, you could restart the application while pressing Ctrl so you get the Clear User Data dialog and reset everything. And also tick the box for migrating content from the retail release. nwhit
Not sure if I was clear. I lost all preferences, settings, assets, font groups, Studio layouts, etc. Everything in the beta APub is back to a fresh install. I tried restoring the Application Support for APUb beta and the pref file, but obviously there are other settings and preferences stored somewhere because restoring the above mentioned didn't make any changes at all. walt.farrell
Sorry; that one is in Settings, in the Beta Program section. nwhit
Thanks, Walt. Found that, but it does make me nervous when it seems to say that it's going to mess with all the beta apps. The others are working fine and set up the way I want. Can you remember if clicking this will actually overwrite ALL the beta apps settings? walt.farrell
A bunch of stuff is now shared across all the applications: So if you've lost any of those (and I think you said you had) then you can't do anything that doesn't affect all of them. But it's odd that you'd have, e.g., no Assets in Publisher but still have them in Designer and Photo. nwhit
In digging into APub a bit further, looks like things are actually there, with the HUGE exception of the Studio layouts. When APub was open, it didn't have an open doc, a condition I rarely ever see, thus nothing shows up for fonts, styles, assets, etc. Now I need to decide if it's safer to just spend a hour or so resetting up my various Studio layouts or daring to try the Copy from Release option. I don't want to mess up the working other apps, but really hate thinking about having to redo all the Studio layouts again. Any guesses on which is the better option? Ever since they introduced the Studio layouts, it just never made any sense that these templates aren't stored and easily recoverable. As many of us know, getting the layouts just right takes time (and a very good memory!).
