Hahaha yeah thats what we said when Adobe bought out Macromedia

They did know what they were doing: suppressing completion from products like the much loved Freehand. 🙁

Exactly

I loved Freehand. RIP.

So did I. For sentimental reasons I still keep my old, old "Using Freehand 7" manual (real paper!) around.

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets sentimental over this stuff.

I think I once had some earlier version (maybe v3?) of the first 3 Macromedia apps you show, but I never used xRes for more than a few minutes to check it out because it ran glacially slow on my old Mac. Pretty much the same for Extreme 3D.

Yeah I could never get around the xRes program and the .LRG format if I recall. But Extreme3D got me into 3D modelling and started a long and fruitful journey. So I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for it, even if it was feature-poor, buggy and slow.

Back in the day, my 'go to' 3D app was Infini-D -- I even invested in BackBurner. I don't remember if I ever bought the updated version after Macromedia merged with Specular.

And with all the money and ressources Canva have, they probably know what they are doing.

Knowing WHAT you're doing and doing the RIGHT thing are two entirely different matters. It reminds me of kids from my childhood who'd say to skeptical friends, “They wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t a good idea, right?”

And with that, allow me to present to all the remaining childish minds... reality - full of mistakes, misjudgments, and failures.

They might know what they're doing. Whether it turns out to be the right thing, we’ll see. I don’t see Affinity as a brand that can be saved. It’s been thoroughly driven into the mud in terms of how it’s perceived globally — turning that around would take miracles, massive investment, and a level of staffing that Canva would only justify if there were major bonuses in it. I don’t see it happening.

Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? If so, be transparent with your customers. Continuing without proper UX expertise both insults and affects your entire customer base.

Right for whom?  That is the Question.

??? What actual indications do you see of that?

Exactly. "Whom" is the crucial point.

Thanks. I’ll have to read that. The mention of Joel Spolsky is reassuring.

I see your book and raise you with:
