Iztok Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Affinity Publisher - Affinity is great tool but I realy miss as InDesign - in effects, basic feather, you have similar action in affinity photo - in refine command, but is little complicated for work in Publisher or Designer, could this command be in next upgrade??

Iztok Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 Well, if you have 10 photos in one page and want to have feather ages, then you need to do mask at every photo instead to select all and then just click feather. One isn't problem Gripsholm Lion 1
loukash Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 In InDesign you would have to mask each of them by some means, too. Good luck with that. Been there done that. If you want feathered edges of a rectangular photo in Affinity, you just draw a vector mask rectangle and blur it. It takes about 30 seconds. Then you can still fine tune many detailed aspects of it. To copy the same feathered edge over multiple images, duplicate the mask rectangle as a linked layer in the Photo persona and keep only its Layer Effect parameters linked. Then you can adjust all of them at the same time. In other words, the Affinity StudioLink advanced tools are here for you to be used. thebodzio and Alfred 2 MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2
Iztok Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Affinity is in many ways simplier, but have some unnecesary complkicated command, it is a mess with colours, hyphenationis problem with other languages, I work in SLovene, I mamage it, but there are lot of people with same problem, and simplified like basic feader with one command, we only suggest how could work better for user
Iztok Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 When I try to make feather wit mask, gaussial blur, te effect is not good, so i need to copy mask several time, to edge became transparent, I can only contorl radius, tot the softness of edge, pritty time consumnig

Iztok Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 yes, but not the edge and what is important i don'tt want softness to the middle of the picture yust tiny edge, this is not the solution for designer.
Staff MEB Posted March 13, 2024 Staff Posted March 13, 2024 Hi @Iztok, There's already an internal improvement request to add a Feather FX to Designer/Publisher. This however must be approved first by dev team/management to be implemented and as such there's still no guarantee it will be addd at the moment. You're not the first user requesting it. loukash Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Fair enough… 4 hours ago, Iztok said: to edge became transparent … the mask must be slightly smaller than the actual image. But one mask is enough. As long as you're using vector masks, this is really, really easy to accomplish with a few clicks manually. 2 hours ago, MEB said: There's already an internal improvement request to add a Feather FX to Designer/Publisher.
