Problem w Paint Brush Tool

Recommended Posts

The brush tool isn't working right. When I select a color, it gives me an incorrect, strange color. Rebooting doesn't help. The Pixel Tool works as it should. I'm still running Affin Photo 1.10.5.1342 version. Any thoughts for a fix? Thx

It would help to have some screenshots or a video showing the problem.

For some guesses, though:

1. You might not be using the Paint Brush Tool, but one of the other Brush Tools.

2. You might have the wrong Blend Mode set for the Tool.

3. You might have the wrong Blend Mode set for the layer you're painting on.

By the way, is there some rain you're using a downlevel version? Windows is at 1.10.6, macOS at 1.10.8.

Thanks Walt! I was prepared to do a screenshot, but then I checked your suggestion of the blend mode. That was it! I had it set for 'overlay' when working on something earlier. It set it back to 'normal' nd now the brush works as it should.

Just so much to learn and keep track of. I know I am just scratching the surface.

What do you mean by 'downlevel' version? Do you recommend that I download the last 1.10.6 version? Can I do that? And how again, if so?

Thanks again Walt.

You said you're running 1.10.5, but if you're on Windows the current one is 1.10.6.

Got it!

So, when I get around to it, I can download the last 1.10.6 version. What page do I go to to do that again?

Honestly , I'm happy as a clam (in the ocean) with the 1.10.5 version. I have to use it a lot more, and get better with it, to consider getting the 2.0 version. Thx

Do you guys like the 2.0 version?

Yes, I do, but I probably wouldn’t have rushed to buy if it hadn’t been for the launch offer that allowed me to purchase a universal licence at a discount of about 40%.

Oops, that’s my reward for posting at the end of a long day preceded by a short night! Thanks to @R C-R for giving you the link you needed.

Not that it will matter to you if you’re only using one version of one app on one OS, but it’s easy to find any of twelve desktop downloads (two versions of three apps across two operating systems) if you know the URL for any one of them. The link I mistakenly provided was

https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/1

and it’s simply a matter of substituting photo or publisher for designer if you want to download one of the other version 1 apps. The number at the end is the version number, of course, and replacing windows with macos will take you to the Mac downloads instead of the Windows ones. The link you used includes ‘en-us’ to take you to the American English page rather than the British English one, but that will be autodetected if omitted.
