'Right Studio' headings accidentally condensed

Recommended Posts

! have added Text Frame to my various options shown in the  attached - I have managed to condense all the headings in the top of the panel - how do I arrange/manage the view of these headings to uncondense them ? I can click and drag but cannot now find a way of viewing full labels. Thanks

Hi @MtnDave and welcome to the forums,

I think the issue is that you appear to have about nine panels in the same group taking up the minimum panel width... You'd be better off splitting these into separate panel groups resulting in say three or four panels per group and then stacking them in the Right and/or Left Studios...

You can of course extend the width of the right panels but you may not want to do that...

You can also remove panels from the group by selecting and then closing the respective panel from the Hamburger menu...

Thanks for your advice Hangman - I have now got a better understanding re setting up studios. Ive set up a left and right studio with a smaller number of items in each. On some help vids I have seen a toolbar button which will open the Text Frame settings - a square button with horizontal lines and a small T top left - but cannot locate this in the button options, has this been dropped in V2 would you know?

Hi @MtnDave,

This is only available in Publisher and will appear in the Context Toolbar when an 'On-Page' text frame is selected or you use 'Edit Detached' or 'Edit Linked' for a Text Frame inherited from a Master Page...

FWIW, if you hover the pointer over any of the abbreviated Studio panel names, after a delay a tooltip will pop up showing the full name of that panel. You can also shorten the delay by moving its slider in Settings > User Interface > Tooltip Delay: to the left. Setting it almost all the way to the left while you are learning to use the app will help identify anything that has a tooltip.

That does not happen for me, on Windows, though I'm sure it used to work that way (and I wish it still did).

Minimum, and the Tooltips work everywhere else in the Affinity applications.

So it is just abbreviated Studio panel names where it does not work? If so, I think it must be a Windows only problem of some sort.

Thanks. If they show on macOS (I haven't tried there since I got my Mac) I suspect you're right.

They definitely do pop up for me on my Mac, so I assume it is the same for other Mac users. Regardless, it would be interesting to know if other Windows users see the same thing you do. Maybe @Alfred can check on his PC?

Unfortunately, the tooltip doesn't really show up on Windows.
Working with tooltips is really sad in Affinity  At the same time, it is such a simple and obvious thing.😞

Edit: The progress achieved in the use of Tooltips is really not significant.

I don’t have access to Affinity on Windows right now, but I see that @Pšenda has replied in the meantime, so presumably you have all the information you need.

I think it is more about if Serif has all the info they need to classify this as Windows-only bug that needs to be fixed.
