istrand
Hoping to get some suggestions on how to fix an export crashing issue I've run into. I've updated to Publisher 2.3.1 on a Windows 10 desktop. I give out "handbooks" to new clients. The handbook chapters are all separate publisher files and the get copied into a client specific folder, edited, added as individual chapters, and ultimately exported to .pdf. All of a sudden today, when using 2.3.0 the desktop publisher app just started crashing when I went to export my book. The progress bar for export is moving forward and I can see the ~lock files worked through the folder where the chapters are stored and then all of a sudden the app crashes and some of the ~lock files just stick open. I've included a picture of what the folder looks like after the app crashes. All of the files you see were added as individual chapters for the export. I uninstalled 2.3.0 and reinstalled with updated 2.3.1. and the same issue is happening. I had been working edited three of the chapters, Pharmacy Policy, Supplement Policy, and Membership Cancellation and it seems like when the ~lock files get to their is when the app crashes. I can export all of those files individually. I can export all of the chapters (except the edited ones above) as a book. However, as soon as I try to export the above chapters I get an issue. With one of those chapters added it doesn't crash but save a .pdf that won't open (image and actual .pdf attached). If two or more are exported then it crashes the app. Opening the chapters individually doesn't create an error and, as I said above, I can export them individually. Any thoughts..... test4.pdf
istrand
I can recreate the crash reliably. It doesn't matter how many chapters I load in front of the edited "Pharmacy Policy", "Supplement Policy", or "Membership Cancellation" chapters they all export just fine. As soon as I add the Pharmacy Policy chapter it get the .pdf that won't open because "something went wrong". If I add the Supplement Policy or Membership Cancellation chapters, in addition to the Pharmacy Policy chapter, the whole app crashes and leaves the ~lock files visible in the folder. Does that offer any more clarity?
istrand
Here are some of the crash reports if anyone knows how to use these to help get an answer 0d471403-b363-49f0-8977-c7f8479fa4a7.dmp 02a5703e-de97-4b90-b064-b4bec1a5261f.dmp 4cc0060f-d6f4-43d4-8964-ac431c08bf64.dmp 5c62bb69-0833-4797-a20d-7dca8f2a880c.dmp 25c0c833-4226-4362-af84-818f9db13321.dmp
istrand
Here are the actual publisher files that lead to the crash. They seem to be fine on their own, but when they get loaded as chapters for export they tank the software. 10 - Supplement Policy.afpub 11 - Membership Cancellation.afpub 9 - Pharmacy Policy.afpub
Staff stokerg Posted February 12 Staff Share Posted February 12 Hi @istrand, I'm not getting a crash with the 3 afpub files you've attached and they are exporting to PDF fine for me. Could you attach or upload the rest of the chapters to our Dropbox here and I'll see if I get a crash with everything added to the Books panel? istrand
I just uploaded. For me, chapters 1,2,5,6 all load and export together fine as chapters in a book. Added chapter 9 "Policy Crash" creates the unreadable .pdf. Added chapter 10 "Supplement Crash" and/or Chapter 11 "Membership Crash" causes the whole app to crash. However, each of those chapters exports fine as an individual document.
