I'll add to this post as I get more information but over the past few days Designer has suddenly crashed on me about 1/2 dozens times, and stopped responded another 1/2 times. It rarely crashed or hung on me in the past, so this behaviour is new and unexpected.

So far I haven't been able to pin it down to any specific action as the app usually just disappears silently while I'm working. A couple of times I was activating fonts using Typeface, but it only happened a couple of times in the course of activating/deactivating many fonts in many sessions.

The hangs are also unexpected as they've even happened when the app is starting up, requiring me to force quit the app and try opening it again.

What's worrying me is that not all open files are rescued, which is unfortunately causing me to lose work progress. I've yet to have any file go corrupt on me, but I'm starting to get more than a little anxious that could become a problem if the crashing continues.

Just a quick update on this issue. I think the problem was due to one of the files I was using was on my macOS desktop which I forgot was being synced with iCloud. I’ve since moved all files to my physical drive and haven’t had any stability issues as yet.

If there is a problem with Affinity files being edited in folders that sync with iCloud, would it be possible to provide some prompt/alert informing users of potential problems when such a file is opened?

FWIW I often edit files directly from the Affinity folders in iCloud (to work between macOS and iPadOS) and have had no such stability problems.

Add mention of iCloud folders.

Another crash this morning. I had just opened Designer and was editing some text on the pasteboard (not on an artboard) and it crashed losing all of the work that had been done in the file, with no option for recovery.

FWIW this file was on my drive, and not in any cloud sync folders.
