When I create an asset from a text box in Affinity Designer the horizontal scale parameter changes. I hope the uploaded screen capture is clear.

I'm using a current version on an up-to-date windows 11 installation.

Hi @Laus welcome on the forum.
I can't replicate that issue on my end (Windows 10 | ADe 2.3.1). Everything is fine with the horizontal character scale when creating an asset.

If you provided more details, it would be easier to determine what is causing your problems and determine whether it is a bug or not.

  1. What version of Affinity Designer are you using. Are you using the latest release version?
  2. Can you reproduce the problem in a new document or is the problem only affecting that particular one file?
  3. Did you create that text frame from scratch in Affininty Designer or maybe in Affinity publisher and you copied it over to designer?
  4. Can you send a video showing the entire process from creating a text frame to creating asset?

Thanks @bbrother - I appreciate your response.

  1. I'm using version 2.3.1
  2. I can't seem to replicate this in a new document, so it looks like this solves my problem... Once I move everything to a new document everything seems to work fine.
  3. I did initially create the text frame in publisher, but the same thing happens when I create it in designer from scratch.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi @Laus,

I also couldn't replicate this here on my Windows 11 laptop.

As you've got a file where this is happening, would you mind attaching it here and I'll see if we can track down what's causing that to happen?

Hi @Laus and @stokerg,

This 'can' happen when text is added to an Artboard and then the Artboard is scaled using the Scale Handle. I don't know if this is something that may have happened with the original artwork at some stage in the process...
