I'm unsure if this is already logged but there is an issue across all three apps when editing values using decimal points... This has been an issue since the release of V2 but doesn't affect the V1 apps which suggests it's not OS related...

Note: I'm unsure if this is specific to Monterey as I would assume otherwise this would have been widely reported but the same is true even after a Factory Reset and a System Reboot...

With both Full Keyboard Access and Keyboard Navigation Unchecked

Example 1 - Document Width 5669 px x Height 3017 px

Resize Document (with Resample enabled) or Resize Canvas - Single Mouse Click in the Width Text Entry Box after the '9' in 5669, hit the full-stop key and the caret now appears after the '5'. The same happens if the Height value is the first value changed.

Example 2 - Document Width 1999.90 mm x Height 1064.33 mm

Resize Document (with Resample enabled) or Resize Canvas - Single Mouse Click in the Width Text Entry Box after the decimal point in 1990.90, hit the backspace key and the caret now appears after the '1'. The same happens if the Height value is the first value changed.

Note: This only happens for the first value edited, so if you change the width as described above and then repeat with the height, you can edit this value without issue.

This issue also affects all four values in the Transform Panel and the Document Setup Panel (in Designer and Publisher) to differing degrees... e.g., it will always affect the Document Setup Width and Height values but only affect the Transform Panel Values the first time an Object is edited for a session across all three apps, so you will only see the issue in the Transform Panel after first launching the respective app when editing the first selected Object, after that the issue in the Transform Panel isn't present...

Designer
In Designer select the Document Setup Panel and single click in either the Width or Height text entry panel of the Dimensions Tab and you see the same behaviour described above, likewise editing values in the Transform Panel...

Publisher
In Publisher select the Document Setup Panel and single click after a value in either the Width or Height text entry panel of the Dimensions Tab, click full stop, e.g., to change a value from 100 to 100.5 and you can't add any numbers after the full stop without clicking in the field a second time because the text entry field loses focus...

From what I recall and also what my personal experience was, similar issues are or were related to MacOS global language, region, units and format settings, sometimes in combination with the language preference for Affinity apps.

In other words, I don't experience anything like this on Ventura.
My overall language settings are English (US) but my system units and formats are customized, based on the German (Swiss) presets.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2

I started noticing this in the last few days. A particular editing task and a change in how I would go about it combined to reveal it, so I don't know how long the bug has existed. It may not always occur consistently, as I could not make it happen deliberately every single time. I'm also stuck on Monterrey.

I do recall a discussion about this though my overall language settings are English (UK) as are my system units, i.e., for Number Separators, Grouping uses a comma and Decimal uses a full stop, my Keyboard is set to GB British and the Affinity apps language is set to Default, though changing it to English makes no difference... in addition using the same settings there are no issues in V1 repeating the exact same tasks...

I agree it feels OS-related but I can't think of any other obvious settings that would cause this, more so when there is different behaviour between V1 and V2 of the Affinity apps and specifically with the Transform Panel this only happens on the first instance of editing a decimal value in V2...

Hi @NathanC,

Many thanks for confirming it isn't just me going mad and for logging! It is an incredibly frustrating bug as you constantly find yourself having to re-edit your edits if that makes sense... :)

It could possibly be related to bug AF-416

Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.

Certainly, the 'Publisher' Document Setup dialog element is the same issue as AF-416 where typing in either the Width or Height text entry box causes it to lose focus hence using the Tab Key with the aspect ratio link enabled fails regardless of whether keyboard navigation is enabled or disabled in Mac OS preferences...

This only impacts Publisher, not Designer or Photo... the decimal point bug on Monterey affects all three apps...

It would be great to see this fixed...
