Need help on a png I have that I want to add cuts

Can anyone help me? I have a PNG image that I made on AD and I want to add a slit or cut so the bear can hold a heart, but I am having a hard time, I tried using the knife tool but nothing happens on the image. Even tried the freehand selection. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Hi @Jmorales and welcome to the forums,

If you duplicate your 'hands' cutout layer and then expand both layers you should be able to select one version along with the cream tummy layer use the Subtract boolean and then select the second cutout layer and again, using the Subtract boolean subtract it from the brown Body layer, assuming you want the cutout to go through the complete graphic...

This is on the Desktop version but it should be similar on Pad...

The knife tool cuts through a curve (stroke) (the edges of a shape) not the fill.

Thank you so much! I forgot about the subtract Boolean tool 😅 my brain was fried. Thank you for the video. I was able get the cut on the tummy and the bear.

@Jmorales, just curious but why did you say you have a PNG image? Your AD document looks like it is composed of a collection of vector (curve) objects, not a raster image like in a PNG file.

Yeah idk why I put that 😅, I meant SVG. Error made.
