I have a document with layers. When I work on one part of a layer it (Affinity Designer) removes it from the group and makes it it's own. These rectangles were in a group, I did some work on them and after they're taken out of the group. They were in the Magazine group below

Please inspect the history panel. It shows what functions you activated last, and can give hints what caused the removal from group.

Try do undo / redo the last steps.

There are several keyboard shortcuts, one which you might have triggered by mistake, which can put layers into or out of groups.

When you make screenshots, please use the default tools from Windows / Mac, and include the full Application window. It will help to support you when we can see all details from the beginning.

If the screenshot contains something you don’t want to share, you can edit the screenshots in Photo or designer and remove those areas. If possible use PNG format for screenshots.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.
