RAW Support for the New EOS 80D

Recommended Posts

Hello grburgess and fellow Affinity users,

While out of town without my camera I chose to buy the Canon 80D and discovered all the maladies that its new RAW file brings to my Mac. So yes, I'm all for Affinity adding support for this latest version of Canon RAW file format. I had been using Aperture but since my Mac with Yosemite has no support for this new RAW file, I'm left with using Canon's Digital Photo Professional (version 4). It's okay but I don't really like it. My workflow is usually to do minimal processing in Canon's setup and export that to a TIF. I then finish editing the TIF in Affinity Photo or Designer.

As of today, Apple's website still doesn't show support for the Canon80D even under El Capitan. The current downloadable version of Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update is 6.19 but it won't install on Yosemite (I tried). And they've just announced the newest Mac OS version (Sierra?) that will bring in a new file system. I doubt they'll offer an update  for Yosemite.

Anyway, I am really enjoying using Affinity and plan to stick with it.

Best Regards,

John
