Hi all,

I tried to look for a solution to my issue on multiple occasions but I don't seem to find an fix or explaination about my issue.
I am having this issue already from back in the time with V1. But the stakes are higher now so it's becoming a bigger issue.
I attached a simplified source file so you can see what I messed up.

The issue that I get is when I get this setup:

1. dark layer clipped in a certain shape (in this source file named as effects)
2. light layer in the same shape below layer 1 (in this file named as body)
3. shadows (darker) layer below layer 1 and 2 (in this file named as shadow_short and shadow_long)

The edge of the light layer (2) peaks true the edges of the dark layer (1).
Any idea how this comes?
I can't really go above 72dpi (if that would be the solution) and the final export size of the final image has to be small enough so even the VRAM on a Raspberry can support enough of these images without slugging in frame rate.
Any idea's why this is happening? Is this a technical issue? Am I doing something wrong which I don't get at this moment.
I assume it has something to do with anti-aliasing?

Many many thanks for helping me out.
I want to get it out of the way because I am currently in production fase and I have to reuse these things on many occasions and don't want to redo everything in a few months from now.

I highly appreciate your time and help.
Regards,
FGFX

@firstdefence

Thank you SO much!
It works like a charm, ...I had no idea.
The .3 value that you use is that a fixed value to solve this anywhere? Or is it dependent on object size etc?

What is actually the cause of this tech wise? Any idea?
Anyway, you showed me a fix for a problem I am having for quiet some time but I never knew how to ask the right question to come to this solution.
Gimme that adress to send your giftbox full of Belgian beers or chocolats haha (not kidding you).

Tnx for taking the time to help me out.
Regards,
Pieter

The .3 was just a figure that worked best, it's not a amount that cures the effect specifically.

I think in part it is an antialiasing issue and possibly a side-affect of the fx filters, I have to admit I was struggling to find a solution that was easy, and neat. I tried several possible workarounds and just out of sheer curiosity, I wondered what would happen if I added a small amount of outer glow and it worked.

The other possible workaround is using the blend mode options (cog in the top right of the layers panel and messing with the coverage but I couldn't get that to work satisfactorily

Ok, I get what you're saying.
Yeah I don't know where it comes from. I get it with almost any clipping mask.
I don't remember getting it with other tools in the past, like Figma / Sketch and others.
But I didn't use skeuomorphism (more flat UI design) with those tools much so I don't know.
I'm using effects really heavily in Affinity Designer. And for me it works a lot faster then Photoshop for what I want to achieve with it.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I might end up on the forum again sooner or later with more issues haha.
Best regards,
Pieter

PS: you can still slip in that address for chocolats if you want 😂
