albertkinng Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Every time I press the V key to move the main cursor while typing, it ends up typing the letter "V" instead. I have to deselect the text and then press V again to continue. Is there a shortcut I could use to avoid this problem and keep my main cursor wherever I want it? firstdefence Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Unfortunately not, you cannot use modifier keys with the tools shortcuts, the only thing you can do is press ESC twice and then V Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... For me, it is faster than using the ESC & V keys. R C-R Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Can I ask why when you are in text edit mode you want to switch to the Move Tool? If it is just to move the text object you can do that without having to change tools by dragging on a corner of the text bounding box. albertkinng Posted January 15, 2024 Author Posted January 15, 2024 @R C-R My situation is different. Each card I'm working on features intricate curvatures intertwined with the text, which necessitates resizing whenever there are text adjustments. The client provided me with files where none of the elements are grouped together, forcing me to address each item individually. As a result, I'm frequently toggling between adjusting text and refining graphic elements.. Quote Ask for my services: albertkinng.com

It should be relatively easy to make it click the Move tool button in the Tools panel based on its window bounds coordinates. It should work both with docked and undocked Tools panel. Other than that, once I got used to the double-Esc shortcut, this all became a non-issue for me.
