nomi02118 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Since the latest Designer update i saw a return to an old issue where some layers would have a box around them unless the layer mode was changed from pass through to normal and even then i sometimes have to rasterize some groups and layers to get rid of it. This time i also saw that warped layers did not render correctly, lines in particular were all over the place. I haven’t had time to make examples, sorry, this is happening as I prepare three children’s books for print and i need to be quick as i work with the client. Quote
Staff DWright Posted January 15, 2024 Staff Posted January 15, 2024 Is it possible for you to post a screen shot showing the PDF export settings that you are using and the PDF export issue that is occurring. Quote

NOt on my computer but i use the digital small setting for most exports since this client, sigh, looks at the stuff mostly on a phone. Quote
nomi02118 Posted February 14, 2024 Author Posted February 14, 2024 I finally had time to show the weird PDf problem and compare to the same image exported as JPG. I am not getting the passthough mode problem on these but the strange cutting off when an image is warped is pretty obvious. Can we not use warping with PDF? It happens no matter what export setting I use. Quote
nomi02118 Posted February 22, 2024 Author Posted February 22, 2024 Still having this issue, this time with a cropped image... sometimes. As you can see it isn't cropped on the left and is on the right. This looks fine in Designer and Publisher and also looked OK in a digital small PDF export but showed up in a PDF/X-1a:2003. I have had to rasterize the problem images to get them took right in the PDF/X-1a:2003 file for Amazon. The cropped images were also used on another page and worked fine in both PDF exports. Quote

Sure! Here is one of the more obvious Dragon page problems. I marked the problem warp layer Red so it would be easier to find, the rasterized version of that layer is above it. dragons page three.afdesign Quote
Hangman Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Hi @nomi02118, I believe the issue you're seeing is a known bug though I'll have to see if I can locate the original bug report. The only area affected when I try exporting your file is the 'black stroke on the board'. I'm not seeing any issues with the named colours or associated arrows as shown in your original screen grabs. The distortion appears to affect anything that falls outside the 'board's' bounding box when warped which the stroke effectively does... As a workaround, I've duplicated the 'board layer' so it sits below the 'board', given it no fill and no stroke and then enlarged the empty layer proportionally so that the black stroke for the board itself sits inside the overall objects bounding box when the perspective warp is applied... I've labelled the new layer in green in the attached file. This then appears to export without issue, let us know if it does for you as well. I appreciate this is not an ideal solution but hopefully, it will give you a workaround for that series of illustrations until the issue is fixed... nomi02118 Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 That makes sense as a temporary solution. It also makes sense why it's happening in some of other cases possibly. It was working OK for awhile which is why it was so weird to me! Merci! Hangman 1 Quote
