Hi,

I'm on Mac Monterey, Intel, and this happens both on the release 2.3.1 and the 2.4ß versions. I tested it in Publisher.

a) In v2.3.1, when hiding the UI (by pressing Tab), the status bar at the bottom of the window doesn't disappear.

b) In 2.4ß, when hiding the UI the status bar correctly disappears the first time, but then reappears when hiding the UI the next times you press Tab.

This creates an ambiguity in wether (a) or (b) should be the correct behavior. In any case it should work always in the same way.

In my view, (b) should be the correct behavior (hiding the UI should hide everything but the document).

Clarification, please: You say it disappears the first time, but then reappears when hiding the UI the next time you press Tab. Once the UI was hidden the first time, how did you restore it so you could hide it by pressing Tab again? Something seems wrong in that sequence, or how I've interpreted it. You shouldn't be able to hide it twice without showing it in-between.

I'm not seeing this behaviour currently in the beta version - both 2.3.1 and 2.4.0.2222 behave the same on macOS in my testing - using Toggle UI retains the Status Bar along the bottom of the app, which I believe is the correct behaviour.

Are you able to provide a screen recording showing your workflow in the beta, that shows this issue? :)

Thanks for verifying and the recording!

This appears to be the same issue that was reported here -

Just to verify, it's been logged with our development team - as part of that bug report I've also requested for further considerations to be made regarding the expected behaviour of the Status Bar when Toggling the UI.

My suggestion to the team is to automatically hide the Status Bar as part of the 'toggle' on both platforms, providing the cleanest workspace possible, but then offer a dedicated option within the 'View' menu to selectively re-enable the Status Bar without the rest of the UI, so that users can decide if they prefer this to remain visible.

I hope this helps :)

This still seems to be a thing in 2.5.2 release – in fullscreen mode and in a window, there's always either a status bar or space for a status bar.
The status bar should be toggled with "tab" / hide UI or even with it's own setting.
(Affinity Designer 2.5.2, MacOS 12.6.3)

Also, the Scroll bars are always visible in Fullscreen Mode, even if there's nothing to scroll (MacOS does this, when a mouse is connected, but would be good if it could be suppressed when the whole document is visible, especially in full screen)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention @jwunderling!

I can confirm the issue remains open with our dev team at this time, so I'll be sure to 'bump' this with your post now.

I understand there to be a setting within macOS that controls this - Under Apple > System Settings > Appearance you should see the Show Scroll Bars option, which offers 3 different modes for scroll bars.

I hope this helps :)
