I am starting to use Data Merge and I want to create a catalogue of my live music collection.

I would love to create an index from my merged data.

Is there a way?

I managed to format the data inside the fields by adding special tags (I used various thin spaces) and use find and replace style using a regex; while being a manual task it does work. (See screenshot!) The titels are formatted differently than the rest of the track info; but I'd love to index the artists. I can easily tag the fields to be used for the index but since we are talking about large numbers it would have to be some automated process.

Another issue: What exactly makes the difference between having the cells in DataMergeLayout grid show one record per cell or one and the same per page in each cells of a page? Following Elains's tutorial I suspect that it has to do with cutting and pasting the text frame with the fields, but that seems weird. And it isn't mentioned anywhere I looked..

I think there should be an option to choose and swirch between them somewhere. Both are common tasks, one e.g. for creating badges (one per person) the other for creating business cards (many for maybe just one person).

As usual, thanks in advance for the nice work you are doing here! Greatly appreciated.

(Btw: I posted this under 'Resources' as no better option was clickable)
