Hello,

I have a business card I'm creating in Designer. At the bottom of the card is a wide arc that sweeps across the bottom of the card. I want the outside of that arc, namely the bottom of the card, to be shaded blue. I've drawn my ellipse as my bottom layer. To get this shading I want to paint outside the ellipse, not inside it.

Thank you!

It might help us to give better advice if you tell us what you mean by “painting” as that can mean different things to different people in different circumstances.

However, if all you want to do is to have a flat colour outside of the ellipse at the bottom then one thing you can do is to create a filled rectangle which is wider than the ellipse and then Subtract the ellipse from the Rectangle – see attached video (alternatively you can use Alt+Subtract to keep the shapes as a Compound so they can be more easily modified later).

That’s fine.

If you add a new thread in the Customer Service section of the forums explaining the issue then a member of staff can probably help you to get things sorted so you only have one login which might simplify things a bit.
