pbbailey Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Hello, I have a business card I'm creating in Designer. At the bottom of the card is a wide arc that sweeps across the bottom of the card. I want the outside of that arc, namely the bottom of the card, to be shaded blue. I've drawn my ellipse as my bottom layer. To get this shading I want to paint outside the ellipse, not inside it. Thank you! Express Scripts Card.afdesign Quote
GarryP Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 It might help us to give better advice if you tell us what you mean by “painting” as that can mean different things to different people in different circumstances. However, if all you want to do is to have a flat colour outside of the ellipse at the bottom then one thing you can do is to create a filled rectangle which is wider than the ellipse and then Subtract the ellipse from the Rectangle – see attached video (alternatively you can use Alt+Subtract to keep the shapes as a Compound so they can be more easily modified later). 2024-01-11 08-48-40.mp4 Quote
pbbailey Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Wow. That's beautiful. Thank you very much! Quote
GarryP Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 You're welcome. (Are you also forum user pbbailey, who started the thread, or is the similar name just a coincidence?) Quote
pbbailey Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Yes. I am. I've been confused in setting myself up here as a forum user. Sorry about that. Quote
GarryP Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 That’s fine. If you add a new thread in the Customer Service section of the forums explaining the issue then a member of staff can probably help you to get things sorted so you only have one login which might simplify things a bit. Quote
pbbailey Posted January 12, 2024 Author Posted January 12, 2024 I just did that. Thanks. GarryP 1 Quote
