Nephilim983 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Why is my Affinity folder name changing with every update. This is making it harder to use Keydials like Huion K20 that is dependent on exe file location to use configurations. Is there a reason why is this done this way and not just create for example Affinity Designer folder and every update goes into that folder without changing it's name? Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 It's changing because you're using the MSIX version of the installer, and that's what happens in Windows when they update. For your situation, it may be better to uninstall that version (all three Affinity apps if you have them) and install the EXE/MSIX version instead. That will have a stable location. If your Keydials app offered better support for Windows, it would allow you to simply specify an application name, not requiring its location, and you wouldn't have this problem. You can find it more in the following FAQ. Note that if you go this route, you will need to reinstall assets, brushes, etc. that you've added to V2, or copy the data from your MSIX app to the EXE app after installation. Also, you will need to be careful to download the EXE version whenever you update, and it's easy to pick the wrong one. Nephilim983 Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Thank you Walt, that makes total sense now. I did had manual installation of my apps but Windows store kept installing them as well on it's own even when i uninstalled them so i decided to remove my manual installs and just leave store ones. I'll definitely make that switch again. Once again, thank you so much for explanation. Quote
