Currently, when we create a new table format, we can't use a cell format that is in use in other previously saved table format.

For this reason, I have a request to the developers for improvement. Could cell formats in the Table Format panel be global?
So that a list of all cell formats from all previously created and saved table formats is available every time we start creating a new table format.

The advantages of such an improvement are:

  • No need to constantly create a cell format from scratch for each new table format if you want to use the same fill color, borders etc.
  • No need for the application to save many duplicate cell formats that use the same fill, border and other settings.
  • Ability to change the appearance of multiple tables in a document that use the global cell format by editing it.
  • Significant reduction in time when creating table formats.

A scenario of how the application should react in which the user tries to change any attribute of the global cell format:

  1. A dialog should show up with info that the attribute change was made in global cell format, and there is a risk that it will affect more than one table in the document
  2. One button to confirm the change and overwrite the global cell format, knowing the risk. And one to create a new cell format based on the new changes.
