nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Yeah, this is a no-go for me. I'm considering buying this and am currently in trial mode. Wasted a bunch of time to customize my ui, then an update got pushed, I took it, and everything went back to normal. Please fix. Quote
nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 8, 2024 Author Posted January 8, 2024 Ah, well, I updated with the bundled .msix file, and now I have two affinity designers, soo... Quote
MikeTO Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Installing an update shouldn't change your user interface so did you install a second copy by mistake? Did you install msix when you had exe or vice versa? nowJczRC7ED3 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 8, 2024 Author Posted January 8, 2024 Nope, I had a regular, exe version, provided to me from the trial mode I began a few days ago. The update file that got pushed to me was an .msix, which is a Windows Store file. Thus, I now have two versions, and I can't find the .exe update file anywhere on your website, so I'm stuck using the store version, for now. Quote

If you click on the Download button in the notification, you are taken to a web page to download an installer for the update. On that web page you can choose to click on the obvious link (MSIX) or the less obvious link (EXE). If you got an MSIX it means you picked the wrong link, which is easy to do. That should be improved. nowJczRC7ED3 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 You say less obvious, but I couldn't find the .exe file anywhere on your website. Here's the page I got sent to, with the single download option. Quote
PaulEC Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 There's very little in this update (just a few bug fixes) so the easiest thing would be to uninstall the msix version and carry on using the original (exe) version you installed for the rest of your trial period. If you decide to buy it, the exe version is under the msix version (but not so prominent). nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 I'm not too worried about it, but this whole process just seemed odd to me. I guess the people who aren't on a trial see the .exe, but it's not there for me. Furthermore, I was hoping to resolve a constant crash issue with .svg files I generated from a Firefox plugin, but alas, it didn't fix it. Quote

When the in-app popup message for the update appears and you click on the Download button, you'll be taken to this page which offers the MSIX and MSI versions. If you went to our main website and logged into this page and viewed your licences, then you will get shown a page like you show in the screenshot and scrolling that page down you'll see some text 'Looking for Windows MSI installers?' and clicking there, you'll be able to download the EXE/MSI installer. emmrecs01 and walt.farrell 2 Quote
nowJczRC7ED3 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 I see, I see! Thank you. There's a chance I may have simply clicked the wrong button. If so, I fully apologize. Quote
