Steve Ballard Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 In Photo (Beta 2.3.1.2217 and release 2.3.0). A document with several layers with at least one being text. If the current layer happens to be a text layer when attempting to place a document the options are limited to .txt documents only. I have not found any information to suggest that the type of placed document is affected or limited by the current layer. Other layer types do not appear to limit the selection - I tried with embedded RAW, pixel and shape layers. Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 That's the way that the Affinity applications have always worked (V1 and V2), and it's apparently by design. If you have a Text Tool or object selected, the assumption is that you'll want to Place a .txt file. Steve Ballard Posted January 8, 2024 Author Posted January 8, 2024 Thinking that might be the case I checked the help text for Place. I couldn't find anything to suggest that it works in this way. It would seem that either the help text or the way Affinity works needs updating. For what it's worth I don't find it intuitive that it works this way. Quote

Publisher allows you to place anything when the cursor is in a text frame.
