tomtom5017 Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 (edited) I am new to the professional use of Affinity in conjunction with the Nik Collection. After the automatic installation of the latest Nik Collection, the plugins are displayed in connection with an image, but they have no function (plugin will not start). Does anyone have any idea what has gone wrong here? Technical data: - Affinity Version 2.3.1 - Nik collection version 6 - MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 - MacBook Pro Thanks for your help! I'm not sure why it wouldn't, but the OP appears to be using the 2.3.1 retail version, not the beta. thomaso Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 @j3rry, as shown in the OP's screenshots they aren't taken from a beta. – For 2.3.1 see also: Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
j3rry Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Sorry my fault, I was outside and not aware that Serif has 2.3.1 released. After install the 2.3.1 all my Nik/DxO Plugins are working here. Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad Air 11", MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
tomtom5017 Posted January 8, 2024 Author Posted January 8, 2024 I am using a regular license, not a beta version. Any hints for me to solve the problem. Maybe a wrong installation? Quote
j3rry Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Maybe a problem with the layer. You have to select a pixel layer with 16/8bit before you can call any plugin. Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad Air 11", MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
Staff MEB Posted January 8, 2024 Staff Posted January 8, 2024 Hi @tomtom5017, Welcome to Affinity Forums Remove that line from the Plugin Support Folders section, restart Affinity Photo and check again if it works. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
tomtom5017 Posted January 8, 2024 Author Posted January 8, 2024 @MEB nope, i removed that line. Same procedure as before. It will not open, but the plugin call causes a log call (screen, right side) Quote
Staff MEB Posted January 9, 2024 Staff Posted January 9, 2024 Hi @tomtom5017, In your first post you refer an automatic installation of Nik Collection 6. If so you should have a folder named Nik Collection 6 with all plugin app files (9 plugin apps + uninstaller) and if you go to Affinity Photo settings, Photoshop Plugins section and click the Open Default Folder in Finder button (on top of the panel) it should open the folder where are located the plugin files themselves (not the apps) and the respective config files (see screenshot below). Can you check if you have all these files in the respective/correct places please? If I remember correctly seems you have changed the original installation directory. tomtom5017 Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 Hi @MEB, After deleting the entire Nik Collection twice and reinstalling it again and again, I can now call up the Collection and actually edit images. Many thanks for your help and advice. MEB 1 Quote
