Hi I want to add 3 columns for some text and see a video on youtube saying you need to first use artistic text tool and then the text panel button shows at the top but nothing happens when I click it like the guy in the video it opens the panel. I don't see it in studio either, how do I access it.

You have been misinformed. It is the Frame Text Tool you need, not the Art Text tool. While that button will appear and the window should open, you cannot add columns to Art Text Text Frames.

As you are using version 1 try going to View > Studio > Text Frame. If you still cannot see the panel try View > Studio > Reset Studio and then repeat the text frame exercise.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Note, too, that the Text Frame panel is available only in Publisher. You haven't said which application you're using.

It was never intentionally available in Photo, though it might have been available via a bug in some circumstances (related to text on a path, in some OSes, if I remember correctly).

As mentioned already, the Text Frame panel is a feature of APub only. – Can you show a screenshot of that video with the app icon/name + the text frame panel, … or post a link to the video?

There has never been an option in Affinity Photo to create columns using the Text Frame tool. This is only possible in Affinity Publisher.

If you own also Affinity Publisher, what you can do is after you create a text frame and add your text in Affinity Photo, then you can use
File → Edit in Publisher to create the colums there and go back to Affinity Photo. (don't forget to save first your Affinity Photo document before you edit it in Publisher).

Thanks guys for the help and confirming, shame its not available anymore. For me it's not worth getting publisher just for this so will see if there's some sort of alternative free method for columns.

Again, except for one limited situation (which didn't really work) I don't think it was ever available. What were you watching that showed it?

Maybe it is still available (not in the Studio Panels menu). When I follow in APhoto V1 the steps in this video the Text Frame Panel button appears when creating a Shape Path Text object which enables me to use the panel to add columns to a new created Frame Text frame. If this doesn't work for the OP I wonder if it matters that I also have APub installed (-> 'Studio Link'), where, btw, the hack also works for APub's Photo Persona.

It was a bug that it was available and worked in V1. It doesn't in V2 as far as I know.

Yes, I thought so from your earlier posts … but this thread's title literally says "in V1".

Yeah I'm using v1 but doesn't work for me, I think your right if you have Apub installed then that opens it if not then you don't have it, the guy in the video couldn't work out why some people couldn't get it cause he made another one about it too and people commented saying they couldn't get it to open anything up like me.
