Hi all

This is my first time here so please forgive me if I have placed this request for help in the wrong forum.

I am using Designer2 to allow me to digitally adjust sewing patterns and then export the pattern in PDF format which I then print.  I have had no problems with making the pattern adjustments; my problems occur when placing the pattern pieces onto artboards.

Because pattern pieces tend to be large what I am doing is setting up multiple artboards using the method described in the following video

After setting up the artboards, I group each pattern piece and copy and paste each of those groups onto the art boards. When I place the pattern pieces they get inserted inside one of the artboard layers and I have to manually drag the group up or down the layers list until it is a layer in itself and I can see the whole piece.  That is fine but then each time I try to move the piece slightly the group is pushed straight back into the layer for the original artboard it was placed on and once again I have to manually drag it up or down the list of layers. I have tried to lock the artboard layers in the hope that that would stop the groups being inserted into then in the hope that might stop the problem but it has not helped at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might help?

Thanks

Kim

Hi @Kimt2au, Welcome to the Affinity forums!

Deactivate the bottom left icon "Edit all layers" in the Layers panel to avoid objects outside of artboard layers becoming auto-moved as child layers.
