DidierS Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Hello, I tried using the "Styles" panel on a jpeg image. When I got to the history panel and tried to undo the style it seemed like nothing was happening. What could I have done wrong? Is this a known issue? Thank you in advance for your reply. GarryP Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Applying a Style can add all kinds of stuff to a layer and it’s sometimes difficult to remove everything, especially if you don’t know what has been added. You might find it more convenient to select the layer and use the “Revert defaults” button on the Toolbar instead. Having said all of that, Undo should undo what was done so you could have found something that has been overlooked. Quote

AFAIK, the Default & similarly simple styles in the Styles panel that do not include layer effects will only have a visible affect on vector type object layers (like the rectangle & the other quick shapes, shapes made with the Pen Tool, & text objects) & on Image layers. From your screenshot, it appears you tried to apply one of the Default styles to a Pixel layer. While doing so will add an 'apply object style' step to the History panel, it should not have any visible effect on Pixel layers, so undoing it likewise should have no effect. walt.farrell 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
DidierS Posted December 30, 2023 Author Posted December 30, 2023 This is due to two things: - my lack of understanding of the functionality of the "Styles" panel - the desire on my part to create my own styles from layers. Quote

You can create custom styles by clicking on the Panel Preferences menu in the upper right corner of the Styles panel (it looks like 3 lines) & choosing the Add Style from Selection item if you have an appropriate object selected. So for example, if you apply some FX to a Pixel layer, you can create a new style that includes those layer FX, but since just setting a fill or stroke color for a Pixel layer does nothing (because Pixel layers have neither strokes nor fill colors) you can't add a style from it. jmwellborn 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
