re: Borders on printing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been trying to print my project at home in a HP Envy printer and keep getting white borders. I have been looking through the forum to find my answer and  I have tried various things e.g. made sure x,y, had whole pixels, made sure the print dialogue is 100%, but it is  something that I feel I may have set up wrong in the software. I have tried in Publisher and Designer and have the same problem. I have set up a 3mm bleed. I have tried setting margins and not setting margins even though I thought it wouldn't make a difference!

I am using a MacBook and V2 of affinity. I am printing from an artboard

I am a complete newbie to this software  so the language is new to me so please reply as if I do not know anything please!

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

If you're pringing on a home printer, using the proper size paper, I don't think you should have Bleed specified. I think that's only used for professional printing when the printing happens on larger-than-needed sheets, which are trimmed after printing.

Hi @angelfire

The printer must support borderless printing. This must be set in the printer's settings dialog. It should also be noted that most borderless printers are limited to certain paper formats. Usually A4/Letter and most common photo formats.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB  | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (22631.3085)
AMD A10-9600P | dGPU R7 M340 (2 GB)  | 8 GB DDR4 2133 MHz | Windows 10 Home 22H2 (1945.3803)

Well there are a bunch of those Envy printer models with different options, so a concrete model number would be more helpful here to know.

Other than that see also ...

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
