neurofanatic Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) I tried to put text on a circle like I used to but now it automatically fills the circle without giving me any control over color / opacity etc. I dont know where the color is coming from. Any ideas? To reproduce try: 1) draw circle with the circle tool 2) click on the circle with the artistic text tool when the tilde icon appears Edit: actually, every text tool box i draw has the same color filled automatically. Is this a bug? Edit: found the solution in the "Revert to default" button. Feel free to delete this post. Edited December 26, 2023 by neurofanatic Quote
GarryP Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Welcome to the forums @neurofanatic And thanks for providing a solution to your own problem; by doing so you might help other people who come here looking for the same solution. It’s worth noting that, when you use the Path Text functionality, the software automatically converts the path – in your case a circle – to a Frame Text layer, so that it can contain the text. (The Help says that the original path is “discarded” but that’s not absolutely true.) However, since neither Designer nor Photo have a Text Frame Panel – from where you can control the properties of Frame Text layers – the properties of the path (circle) become ‘fixed’ at that point and the only way you have to change them is to use the Revert Defaults button as you have done. Publisher has a Text Frame Panel so it’s not a problem in that application. However, it’s normal for Designer and Photo to remove the formatting from the path when you use the Path Text functionality, and it probably shouldn’t add any colour itself. Since you are also asking why all of your new Frame Text Layers get the same fill colour I’m guessing that, at some point, somehow, you managed to get a Frame Text layer with a fill colour and so, because the software automatically gives new Frame Text layers the same properties as the last one, this is probably what happened – the path was converted to a Frame Text layer and it ‘took on’ the properties of the last Frame Text layer. (Was the document edited in Publisher at any point?) Personally I think this last point may possibly be a bug, or at least unexpected behaviour most of the time from my point of view, and I think it has been discussed elsewhere in the forums. I hope some of this helps you to understand what happened. Quote
