XW-Affinity Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 This is a problem that I found periodically since the version of 2.0. When I selected the selection brush tool on Affinity Photo, the operation of press "[" or "]" doesn't change the size of the brush tool at all, but only trigger the alert sound. Now it's version 2.3, the same problem still exists. Is this because of my misoperation or is this a bug? Quote

The bracket shortcuts are present and identical in V2 to those in Photo V1. I have discovered that if you will go up to the Context Toolbar and uncheck Snap to Edges the "[" and "]" bracket shortcuts seem to work perfectly. Interestingly, if I then recheck Snap to Edges and try to resize the selection brush tool using the bracket keys, the shortcuts work! Not sure about this, but it could be a bug. deepblue, v_kyr and XW-Affinity 3 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.7.6. The macOS is Sonoma 14.2.1, the newest version. But this problem start from the version of 13. And yeah, I checked the shortcuts and it seems fine and I haven't find any problem there yet. Quote

Yeah it seems works with this way! I guess it is a bug and hopefully in the later version it can be fixed! I really appreciate it! jmwellborn and deepblue 1 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted January 2, 2024 Staff Posted January 2, 2024 Hi @XW-Affinity, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you try something for me please? If you change the default shortcuts to something else (F5 to decrease/F6 to increase or another single key shortcut) does it work correctly for you without using the "Snap to Edges" trick? I spotted this, and Today my bracket default shortcut keys in Photo 2.3 were working perfectly, with either Snap to Edges checked or unchecked. I decided to change the default shortcuts to F5 and F6 to see what would happen. Testing on that same document, the F5 and F6 shortcuts did not work with either Snap to Edges checked or unchecked. Then I went back to Settings and changed the shortcuts back to the [ ] bracket keys. Testing on the same document, with either Snap to Edges checked or unchecked, the [ ] keys work. I hope this helps. Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.7.6. Photo, Publisher, Designer 1.10.5, and 2.6. I tried this one but it didn't work. It still happens periodically. Quote
