AP- Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 App - Affinity Designer 2.3.0 OS - Macos Sonoma 14.1.1 Hardware - Mac Mini M2 Pro Issue: File saved as .afdesign but when reloaded is missing objects (first inline pic). Subsequently, refuses to display anything (second inline pic). Load in Affinity Photo 2.3.0, and it displays fine (third inline pic). See below. File is attached. First load attempt: Subsequent load attempst: Correctly loads in Photo: I love Affinity products. However, I am frustrated that not a single of the bugs I have reported have been addressed. And notice a similar trend elsewhere on the forum. Take back the spiral tool and fix the bugs please. Also can we please have presets inside the live filters/adjustments rather than in a palette. No matter how much you like it, it is terribly counter-intuitive. You could have both. Bugs aren't a feature. Some of the quirks are also counterproductive to workflow. Quote
AP- Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 Here's the original file. I don't need it anymore, it does not work. They include the .svg which were placed. dead.afdesignfacial-recognition-svgrepo-com.svgfacial-recognition-solid-svgrepo-com.svgsecurity-camera-svgrepo-com.svg Quote
Hangman Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Hi @AP-, On opening your Designer file, one of the SVG files is shown as Embedded the other two are Linked and shown as missing... As soon as I relink or replace the SVG files then all three are shown in your file on opening... For some reason though it appears impossible to Embedd the SVG files because once embedded they appear as Linked after closing and re-opening the file which does look like a possible bug... Staff NathanC Posted December 22, 2023 Staff Posted December 22, 2023 The SVG link issue is fixed in the upcoming 2.4 update. 🙂 I can't replicate the re-load canvas display issue, but it looks to be the same type of display issue in the thread below which Chris was able to replicate and log, albeit by following some very specific steps so I'll bump it with your report.  Quote
AP- Posted December 22, 2023 Author Posted December 22, 2023 Thank you, this is excellent news. It does seem like a similar thing - did not turn up in the search I did when I submitted the issue. Apologies for duplicating. Although I cannot find it now, on hindsight I think this is also related to an issue someone else was having when pasting SVG glyphs in text. These were also disappearing. Â Please, though, can I sacrifice you the spiral tool for looking at the other bugs I submitted, still present in 2.3.0: Â Luminosity/Hue/Band pass mask opacity uncoupled with palette opacity. Luminosity/Hue/Band pass mask blue typing a value in the editbox is ignored. Glitching errors with the perspective filters on the canvas. Â Feature request Load/manage a preset from the live adjustment/filter rather than a separate palette to improve workflow. Ability to flow text in Designer to improve workflow (I have all three, so it really is a pain for me but might be a deal-breaker for some). Â Did I mention I would sacrifice the spiral tool for this? Quote
AP- Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 By the way, does anyone know when the 2.4.0 is due to be released? Quote

AP- Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 Released. I don't think I enrolled with the beta programme. I sort of vaguely seem to remember seeing something about that. January, though, still good news. That's not too far away! Oh uh, reminds me. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. Quote

Affinityconfusesme Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 Hi @AP- I think the new cycle is going to start next week or the week after. It seems like it was ready to start last week, but then they added more it so the need time to test these things out before the cycle starts.
