Hi - I've started using Affinity Publisher as part of a design college course but I don't seem to be able to fix the issue of my documents increasing in paper size when I export them as pdfs. My local reprographics guy doesn't know the Affinity Publisher and my college is so small it doesn't have IT support so any help would be much appreciated. A fellow student has screenshot all of the windows and tabs regarding document set up and exporting and I can't see any differences in what we're doing. I'm the only student in a group of 16 where this is happening.

Here's what's happening when I check the pdf properties:

A1 841 x 594 mm page size changes to 1121 x 792 mm

A2 594 x 420 page size changes to 792 x 560

A3 420 x 297 page size changes to 560 x 396

A4 297 x 210 page size changes to 396 x 280

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Fox in the garden and welcome to the forums,

The issue here is that the PDF viewer you're using to view the size of your PDF files is using 96 dpi instead of 72 dpi, despite PDF files not having a resolution.

Windows (assuming you're using Windows) uses a default of 96 dpi so depending on how you're viewing the PDF you can see incorrect results, e.g., if you view the dimensions of the PDF in Microsoft Edge this will show incorrect sizing...

96 / 72 = 1.333333

A1 - 841 mm x 594 mm x 1.333333 = 1,121 mm x 792 mm
A2 - 594 mm x 420 mm x 1.333333 = 792 mm x 560 mm
A3 - 420 mm x 297 mm x 1.333333 = 560 mm x 396 mm
A4 - 297 mm x 210 mm x 1.333333 = 396 mm x 280 mm

If you view your exported PDF file in Acrobat Reader and inspect the Properties of the file you should see the sizes displayed correctly but if not let us know and perhaps upload a sample Publisher file and exported PDF so we can take a look...
