How can I merge this levels adjustment to the mask? The Merge button in the popup doesn't do anything.

Ctrl-E on the adjustment doesn't do anything either.

Hi @eobet,
On the top of my head I believe you can't do it directly. You need to generate a greyscale layer (image) from the mask layer (Channels panel), apply a duplicate (or the original one if you want) of the levels adjustment to the newly created greyscale layer, merge them, then apply the command Rasterise to Mask to the greyscale layer to turn it into a mask again and attach it to the original background image.

As far as I know you can't merge adjustments with masks (alpha).

I just noticed that after saving the .afphoto file and opening it again, the mask is merged. I may have opened the file in Designer in between but this is a bit unforgivable as it's destructive (even though in this occasion it was what I wanted).

Similarly, I'm now fairly certain that I dragged a bitmap into a layer and it became a mask by mistake, and after opening the .afphoto file again, that bitmap was just a white rectangle...

Hi @eobet,
What you wanted to do isn't currently possible directly in the app (confirmed). You have to follow the process I described above. Closing and reopening the file wouldn't fix it unless you have done something else/more to the file or there's a bug lurking somewhere. I'm checking this on Windows as we speak to see how it's behaving there. If you could provide the original afphoto file (before the merging) even better. I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private - just let me know.

Regarding the  second issue, I know what you are talking about. Let me check out what's going on.
