To make a long story short, I deleted the Affinity Photo iCloud folder to try and force its recreation after the embedded app icon disappeared (the folder had become blank), but the Save as... menu doesn't even give me the option to save to iCloud anymore. I tried reinstalling Photo, but no dice.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am now noticing that Affinity Photo isn't listed in Files and Folders access in settings i.e. it doesn't have access to the iCloud folder. I've deleted and resintalled Photo twice to try and initiate that, but it's not working. image.thumb.png.839c060712415c5df6da6b4b6e5fa053.png

Can you still sign in at https://www.icloud.com with a browser? If so, what does it show for Drive > Browse?

Yes. That's actually since I deleted the Affinity Photo iCloud folder directly on www.icloud.com that the app won't recreate it. I first deleted it in the Finder, and Photo recreated the folder but still without the app icon (regular blue folder). I then deleted it on icloud.com, and here I am.

A post since deleted mentioned that only V1 apps created dedicated folders in iCloud. I'm not sure that's correct. Affinity Photo V2 recreated a dedicated iCloud folder after I deleted it from iCloud via the Finder. It's only after I deleted it on icloud.com via Safari that the problem started. The primary issue here is that Photo doesn't even give me icloud as save location option, as shown in the screenshot in my original post.

I tried with Designer V2: after deleting its iCloud folder via the finder, it still offers iCloud as a save location and recreates a dedicated folder (with embedded icon). I suppose I could delete the Affinity Designer folder via the browser, but I'm afraid it too would stop offering iCloud as a save location.

I used to have Designer on my iPad,  now I have Designer 2. In my iCloud account I have both affinity designer and affinity photo folders with files from from version 1 only. No new version 2 files are being saved there. I cannot see any way to save Designer 2 files to iCloud.

Create your own folder structure in iCloud using the Files app, I use 0-Affinity Photo, 0-Affinity Designer etc. When you press Save on the hamburger icon on the iPad home screen browse to the folder structure and tap save. I also access these same folders from my desktop versions.

Update:  I fixed the issue the only way I knew how: clean OS and app reinstall. 3.5 hours spent doing this on a Sunday night - not awesome.

I'm not sure about the iPad version, but to the point that the macOS V2 suite doesn't allow saving to a dedicated iCloud folder, here is a screenshot of Photo's Save As... save location options (it's the same in Designer and Publisher).
