0125 Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Hi, maybe this is standard behavior or a bug or I messed up the swatch recently and unknowingly. When I have CMYK/8 color format selected under document setup, black does not appear as black but as dark gray (roughly 80% black) in the none/black/gray/white mini swatch. It is the same for all three Affinity products. I just noted it in Publisher because CMYK/8 is set as default for new files. Is there a way to set it back to 100% or is it supposed to work that way and I just never noticed? Thanks Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 That should be a pure Black that is 100K, with 0 for C/Y/M. A pure Black in CMYK generally will not be as black as a Rich Black that uses a mixture of K, C, Y, and M. You need to pick the Black you (and your printers) actually want for your project. Beyond that, though, I'll defer to someone else for more details. 0125 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. 0125 Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 Hello Walt. Indeed, it shows CMYK = (0/0/0/100). While what seems to be true black on screen is composed as CMYK = (72/68/67/88). So, I guess it's expected behavior, which I simply didn't pay attention to before. Strange, anyhow. I can live with it and will leave it with this. Thanks for your input Walt! walt.farrell 1 Quote
