Affinity Publisher V2 crashes immediately on opening a file created with Affinity Publisher V2 this morning. I have updated to Mac OS 14.2 on my iMac and it still does it? I really need this file e-urgently. What can I do?

The file opens fine here.

Likely one of the places images has some kind of ‘challenge’.

Change the name of the linked files so the links are broken. Most likely your file will open normally.

Then, relinking the files one by one and closing and reopening the publisher file, search for the file which causes the problems – I suspect the svg.

good luck.

Hi @Celia,

I can open your file but the linked resources are not included... Could you please also upload, the CeliaScott_XmasCard_2023.jpeg and Instagram_Glyph_Black.svg files as well so we can check these aren't causing the issue...

Hi @Celia,

Thanks for the files... I'm not seeing any issues with your file now both graphics are included.

Which version of Publisher are you using, v.2.2 or v2.3?

See if you have the same issue with the attached v2.3 version... I've embedded both files for ease...

Thanks for the pdf. I'm using Af Publisher v. 2.3

Are you able to open the Publisher file I attached in the previous post as well without issue?

Ah, yes. Perfect, it opens, I had not tried before. Thank you very much.

That's good to hear and hopefully means you can get your Christmas Cards printed now... 🙂🎄🧑🏻‍🎄

Hi,

thank you Celia for your post. I experience similar difficulties with Affinity Publisher 2.3.0. After updating to macOS 13.6.3, publisher crashes every time when opening a file I created before the update. Luckily I had a PDF with an older version and was able to recreate the file.

Seems like something got mixed up.

Hi @Celia and @whalesong_de,

I think it would be extremely helpful if you could both upload any crash reports you have which will appear under Utitlies > Console under the Crash Reports section so the moderation team at Serif can take a look into possible causes of the crashes you've both experienced...

If you select a Crash Report in the Console you can right-click on it and select 'Reveal in Finder' and then upload the file itself rather than the content of the file.

Hi @Hangman, I experience similar problems with a designer file. May you be able to help me with it as well? I accidentally copied in a link into a name of a layer or something instead of the name which made the AD crash and makes it crash ever since trying to open the file again..20231231_carmen_logo.afdesign

If there's any chance to help me, that would be highly appreciated!

Hey @MeyMo and welcome to the forums,

I'm assuming you're working in Affinity Designer v2.3.0, but let me know if that's not the case...

See how you get on with the attached file. I wasn't sure how you had named your artboards so just rename them accordingly.
