Andrew Saunders Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 The export PDF function is just not playing well. I have been using X9 for many years and this year I thought I would upgrade to Affinity. Having spent many hours creating a newsletter the export to PDF corrupts the images ( see attached) I have tried all functions on the PDF Export but some images are OK others not, they are all JPEGS imported in. On X9 is was simple, click the exoport PDF button a got 100% perfect outputs every time. In the end, I had to print to Foxit PDF - not ideal - so upgrade has been a backward step for me - Is anyone else experiencing the same issues or have a resolution? Quote
Hangman Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Hi @Andrew Saunders and welcome to the forums, Without seeing your Publisher document it's going to be tricky to diagnose what may be causing the problem here... Are you using Publisher on Mac or Windows? Are you able to upload your Publisher file along with any linked images/graphics by either Saving your Publisher document as a Package (File > Save as Package) or simply by creating a .zip file that includes everything so we can take a look? Which PDF settings are you using when exporting so we can test like with like? Andrew Saunders Posted December 10, 2023 Author Posted December 10, 2023 Hangman- firstly thank you so much for your comprehensive and prompt reply, impressed with the support. I have been having some trouble shooting my end and I believe the issue is down to the PDF reader people are using. Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, and Edge - all open OK the issue seems to be with one called Nuance PDF Pro. It opens X9 PDF's without issue but the Affinity ones struggle to show images. As very few people use Nuance PDF Pro I have advised they uninstall and reinstall Foxit or Adobe. Unless other people are having issues it seems to be third-party program specific that worked with X9 but not Affinity - Thanks again for your support. Quote
Hangman Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Hi @Andrew Saunders, Glad you managed to get to the bottom of the problem and that you now have a solution that works for all concerned... Many thanks for updating the thread to let us know... I'm not familiar with Nuance PDF Reader so I can't comment on why it may be specifically causing display issues with PDF files exported from Affinity apps, more so as it appears to be Windows only software (I'm on Mac) though I did read that "PDF file conversions are not inbuilt in the software - They can be done through the developer's web site" so whether that is a cause of the issue I don't know but it sounds as though they may be using their own PDF Converter Pro software to achieve this which could potentially be an issue...
