Lissa Malloy Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 This has happened several times, I've deleted the program and reinstalled it to no avail. I've called apple to make sure it's not my ram being slow. When using the brush (doesn't seem to matter which brush) suddenly it's only my one brush stroke and everything around that should have rendered into the brush stroke is deleted. If I attempt to back up on history -EVERYTHING- on that layer is deleted. No matter how far back I go it'll delete it. I've tried saving and closing, but then I REALLY REALLY do lose the work. my only option seems to be to just save with that blip gone, and then reopen redo and everything in that location. I've taken a video of what it looks like after said brushes initially and how it zilches my work. what's going on and how do I stop it? I have a macbook air, running Sonoma 14.1.2. 16GB I have the original affinity photo running 1.10.8 IMG_7993.mov debraspicher 1 Quote
Dan C Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Hi @Lissa Malloy, Sorry to hear you're having trouble! This isn't isn't being reported by other users, but we've previously seen an similar issue occur for the iPad version - which our developers believed was RAM (memory) related. Is this happening in one singular document, or multiple files? Can you please navigate to Affinity Photo > Preferences > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me? Many thanks in advance Quote
Lissa Malloy Posted December 8, 2023 Author Posted December 8, 2023 I've only been working on this one thing at this moment. I can mess around with others though if you'd like. I'm heading into my split "weekend", so I might not have time except for late Saturday until Tuesday. At apple's suggestion I left my activity monitor open and watched that as I work, with every other program/app closed. It never goes above around 40%. Quote
Dan C Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 No problem at all, thanks for providing that for me! Firstly, I can see in your screenshot that you have an active pixel selection (indicated with the 'marching ants') around the whole canvas whilst painting. This shouldn't necessarily cause issues, but I'd recommend using Select > Deselect before continuing to paint in this file, to see if this helps. 5 hours ago, Lissa Malloy said: In regards to the above, I'd recommend increasing the RAM Usage Limit to 15360 MB, disabling 'Hardware Acceleration', change the Display to OpenGL and finally the View Quality to Nearest Neighbour. Restart the app as prompted once you've changed these settings as then try painting in your file once again. Does this stop the issue from occurring please? Quote
Lissa Malloy Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 I'll try these and let you know. Today I'm flopped out from a bad cold. Tomorrow I'll be able to open my eyes without sinus pounding hopefully. Quote
Lissa Malloy Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 These changes have worked! I've managed to work all afternoon without a glitch! Thank you!!! Dan C 1 Quote
