80sTherapy Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I'm trying to split this shape in half as shown in red in the attached screenshot, but I'm not sure how to do this. It's in a square and straight container, and the node tool doesn't seem to be stopping at the shape's symmetrical middle along the path. Quote

firstdefence Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 You can also use a straight curve and the boolean divide option. Create a line curve from the centre of the donut shape and use the transform panel to accurately rotate the curve, make sure the transform origin is positioned at the end of the curve (centre of donut) Select both the curve and the shape you want to cut and use the boolean divide option. You should end up with the shape cut into two parts. deepblue 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... The knife tool has no precision, so it's certainly not surgical, more skilled butchers. I must confess that I don't get the Knife Tool at all! There always seems to be a better option in my work. If it followed the usual snapping rules, then perhaps I'd have a use for it. And maybe it is suited to other styles such as more organic shapes. Does anyone have a good video that shows the power of the Knife over other tools such as Shape Builder, Pen Tool, Boolean operations, etc?
