Hi, I'm Rawi, I usually draw illustrations for cars. there is something in my designer affinity today

I don't know why this happened, before I updated to 2.3 it was safe for the shape builder tool. I used to select all the lines then tidy them up with the shape builder but after I updated to 2.3 I can no longer do that. and not just the shape builder tool, when I use the feature to fill in color it just doesn't work even though it could before. I hope to find a solution here.

Hi @Rawi and welcome to the forums,

Would you be able to upload one of your Affinity Designer files where you're experiencing the problem so we can take a look at what might be going on?

Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3
MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse
HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Welcome to the forums @frm5993

Hangman asked Rawi for an example document which exhibited the problem but they have not yet done that, so we cannot know what the problem is/was.

If you are having a similar problem then I would suggest that you follow the same advice and attach a document so that we can experiment with the intention of diagnosing the issue.

Otherwise, without something to look at, we are just guessing.

One thing which sometimes ‘trips the software up’ is when nodes have the same position, or when a curve ‘bends back on itself sharply’, or various other things which have been mentioned in the forums.

And there’s a chance that there are simply too many nodes for the software to handle in such a complex design.

As it is, there are way too many curves and nodes for us to check them all manually/individually (without some luck).

If you can narrow the problem down to a much smaller number of layers then that might help us to see what the problem is.
