Hi All

A few weeks ago I switched to AP after using PSE 11, on and off, for a couple of years.  A bit of a steep learning curve for me, but I'm getting to grips with it now.  I am getting on quite well with high resolution and RAW images, but much of my work involves working with low and very low resolution images (less than 100kb) making selections time consuming and difficult. The images become extremely pixelated when zooming in to refine selections.  Is there a way to improve the quality of the images in AP prior to making selections?

Thanks.

Hi Jackie King,

Welcome to the forum.

The problem with improving most low resolution images is that these are normally created in a lossy compression file formats such as JPG and when these formats are compressed the extra data that the original image contained and is not required by the low resolution version is removed and therefore when the image is resized there is not enough information in the image to fill the new size which is why the images become pixelated.

If you have any images that are in the formats on PNG, TIF or WebP these are known as lossless compression and these images will rescale to a higher quality.

Regards,

Darren

Hi Jacki King,

I have seen that you have problems to work with low resolution images. Why dont you just use isize.co to increase the resolution and go on with affinity afterwards again? I use it on a daily basis as Im a 3D-Designer, the results are amazing.

I hope I helped you.

Hi Tina

Thanks for your suggestion. I have been on the isize.co website and set up an account, but I cannot work out how to use the service.  I sent them an email saying I would like to try it out with a small image, but have not had a reply.

Regards.

Jackie
