I normally work on multiple projects concurrently with specific brand colour swatches. Since the 2.3 update, whenever switching between project tabs, the palette automatically reverts to the standard "Colours" palette. Even trying to set a custom palette as default does not work.

I seem to have a similar problem with that my swatch panel keeps reverting to one I made and it appears to have a lock symbol on it like the colours and greys panel.  So it's not just me. Thanks for looking into it.

Thanks for letting us know @CRWillow & we're sorry to hear this is affecting your workflow.

I've 'bumped' this issue with our development team now, to bring it to their attention once again. I hope this helps :)

Thank you for checking into it. Just so you know I've tried using an old studio preset as well as saving a new one however all the windows change except for the swatch panel.

Thanks again.

The issue "[macOS] Swatch>Palette selection isn't remembered when switching between documents" (REF: AF-2943) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.3027). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.

If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.

When will be the next customer release of this fix? Will it apply to AD?

If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed!

I would expect it to be relatively soon, as the latest beta updates have been labeled as Release Candidates, but there's no way to know exactly when that will be until it happens. Have you tried the beta? That would let you confirm if this fix actually applies to the problem you have.

To be honest Walt I haven't but presumably I could just download the Beta version and give it a try.

It looks as though it has been fixed in the 2.6 Beta, i.e., it will maintain the selected colour palette for an open document when creating a new document and then switching back to the previous tab which it doesn't in 2.5.7... And yes, it applies to AD.

But I'm not sure that's exactly what @jackamus needs. He might want all documents to open with a specific Palette showing, or a specific document to Open with that Palette showing.

This seems to be what is happening, i.e., the AF-2943 fix shown by the Affinity Info Bot in 2.6.0.3027 but maybe I'm missing the required behaviour...

2.5.7 Behaviour

  1. Create a new document and the swatches panel displays the first listed palette
  2. Change the swatches panel to a different palette, e.g., the Greys palette
  3. Create a second document and the swatches panel for this document again displays the first listed palette
  4. Switch back to the first document and instead of the Greys palette selected in Step 2 it also now displays the first listed palette

2.6.0.3106 Beta Behaviour

  1. Create a new document and the swatches panel displays the first listed palette
  2. Change the swatches panel to a different palette, e.g., the Greys palette
  3. Create a second document and the swatches panel for this document also displays the Greys palette
  4. Switch back to the first document and it still displays the Greys palette (selection in Step 2) rather than the first listed palette
