JariH Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Hello Affinity, Today I needed a "free transform" tool in Designer 2. When selecting nodes in Node Tool and activating transform, I would like to transform freely in perspective, not just scale, skew and rotate. Very useful with any Move/Transform tool. loukash, mrbynum, Aammppaa and 3 others 6 Quote
youcefdk Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 I had the same issue on affinity photo ipad. Quote
arthur_B Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Owner of the V1 I just activated the 6 month trial period (AD 2.5.5) and started to play with some basic shapes to discover the tools and oh god what a surprise to not be able to achieve this simple transformation after 3 minutes in the software. I was looking for the modificator key, shift, alt or ctrl to be able to deform from an angle handle, but none of them worked and I quickly found out that it is not implemented. To not be able to simply deform shapes like this without entering cascading menus or manually deforming points is a big no go for me. I really wonder how people are using the software to design without being able to quickly adjust shapes. For now I don't see the point of digging in the software, you may have had a 20 minutes trial version it would have been the same. Quote
fde101 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 If you are working in Photo and don't mind the results being rasterized upon export, you can use the Live Perspective filter to accomplish essentially the same thing. It can be added from the Live Filters button on the Layers panel or from the menu bar (Filters -> Distort -> Perspective), and once added you can largely ignore the small window that opens (except that it needs to be open in order to make the adjustments) and just drag the corner handles as you would using the tools you are asking about. Closing the window returns you to the "normal" selection tools, but you can re-open the window to get the handles back by double-clicking the live filter layer that gets added in the Layers panel (possibly as a child of the selected layer). Unfortunately there is no way to get this kind of manipulation in vector space right now in the Affinity products, as has been mentioned in the various existing threads on this subject (this thread is very much a duplicate by the way).
