I have two problems when printing from Publisher v2.3.0 running on OSX Sonoma 14.1.2

First problem

I have a Canon MG5053 printer.

If I print a single copy of a document it prints the text one way round.

The same document and ask for 5 or more copies and the output is rotated 180 degrees.....

Any ideas? the driver, printer, document are all the same it is just the quantity which determines how it should be rotated - as I am overprinting onto pre-printed blanks it is annoying when you forget and waste a few expensive printed sheets...

Second Problem

Printing this time to a Laserjet 4350 (although the printer doesn't make much difference

I go to print the document set up that I want to use booklet printing and print off a proof copy to check.

When I ready to print again - Publisher does not remember the settings and I have to input them manually before printing again - I am sure this is down to me missing a setting but can someone please advise as it would make things easier.

There's probably a portrait/landscape button somewhere, but my suggestion for expedience is just to export the document and print it from something else - such as Preview.

I'd recommend using Canon Pro Print & Layout, but I think it's only for their photo printers.

Also, printing booklets is usually a PITA. I had to do that a couple of years ago and just bought a program called Create Booklet 2. It wasn't expensive.

... leaving aside that I hate reflexive "buy this" replies to problems posted on the Internet, when it should just be a troubleshooting issue. :)

I have a "Preset" option in the Affinity print dialog for my Epson that I used for a "N-Up" setup, so it might work for "Brochure", too.

For the orientation I have a switch from "Automatic" to either "Portrait" or "Landscape".

Nevertheless, like @nickbatz I prefer not to use Affinity for print but to print via PDF export + Acrobat.
It appears even their Reader offers brochure print: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-booklets-acrobat-reader.html

The preset option doesn't seem to work for me.

The orientation question I maybe wasn't clear enough on.

If I print this document and select one copy - it is 'correct'

If I print this document and select 10 copies it is rotated 180 degrees.

No other changes have been made apart from the number of copies to be printed.

What does it do? Do you have this menu at all? If yes, can you choose to save a new preset?

No idea what is influencing this odd change. – But since you know it, can't you "just" take into account in your print jobs?

It's probably a bug. The built-in macOS print driver does have a tendency to be temperamental, or at best hard to predict.

That's why I suggested exporting one copy and printing it from another program (unless you have the patience to print one copy ten times, which is probably even easier).

When I use the preset option it doesn't save the booklet printing option on the profile.

I need to have a look again when I have more time.

Regarding the rotating prints - I normally need to print around 80 of these. The worst thing is it is not consistent occasionally it prints the first test page a different way round - must be something to do with the canon drivers.

BTW all my computer are Adobe free zones - I don't use any Adobe products on any machine....

Doesn't it save a booklet setup in particular or any custom print setting? If not, maybe it helps to press "Print" after saving the preset, not "Cancel" to close the print dialog. (you can delete the print job in the virtual printer dialog to avoid it getting printed).

To me it appears to work for a booklet setup:

By default in macOS a printer gets setup via Bonjour / Airprint. As Apple's Airprint is called to be "driverless" it may influence the print dialog in a different way than a printer setup via IP for instance. So you could try one of the other methods to setup the printer in macOS + manually select a specific Canon driver.

If it's consistent when you print one... okay, this is annoying, but you could cue up 80 of them, one at a time.

You don't want to pay only $660/year? What a cheapskate.
