affinity V2 will not create a panorama from two photos

Three people on a sofa, I removed the center person by cropping the left and right and now I want to stitch the two.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

A panorama requires a certain amount of overlap between the images. You probably don't have enough. 

Why not just create a new document of the appropriate dimensions to hold both of your cropped images, then Place both of them into the new document and align/overlap manually?

But there is a narrow white border separating the photos.

Publisher has it's problems, too,

But I appreciate the suggestion as I did not think of it which means YOU have a high school education.  Kidding.

Can't you move them closer?

Perhaps you can provide images so we can see your problem?

• With the Vector Crop Tool or any custom vector curve layer you can get a cropping mask inside an image layer.

• For smoother blending at image or mask edges you can apply a transparency gradient (or a blur effect on the entire mask for all mask edges).

• You can move, rotate, scale the masking child layer and the parent image layer independently of each other.
