I just purchased Designer 2 and it is not linking with my other Affinity apps. I didn't realize there was a 1 and 2. Is there any way to link them? That is the whole reason I purchased Designer as that is the only product I did not own yet. Very disappointed.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

You need to have compatible versions and releases for the applications to communicate. So, for Publisher or Photo V1 to talk to Designer you would also need Designer V1.

With Designer V2, you will need to also have Publisher and/or Photo V2 to enable the communication and interoperation.

Note, too, that Affinity native files you Save in V2 cannot be opened by the V1 applications.

There should have been some sort of warning before purchasing this. Now I just spent money on something that will have very little value for me. This is not acceptable.

Or, if only there were a free trial "before purchasing this", right?

Oh, wait…

Hope that helps anyway. :)

That does help. Thank you!!

I hope they make a way to integrate them in future though since it says Designer 1 is not available in my country (US) when I click on the buy now button in the program.

Affinity V1 apps are not available for purchase anywhere, anymore. There have been many forum threads on the topic since last year, with explanatory posts from Serif staff why this is so.

I understand. Obviously I should have done more research before making a purchase. I stand corrected. I just assumed it would work since it's the same program. I shouldn't have assumed that. I don't generally upgrade to the newest version if what I have is doing what I need it to do. Overall I am happy with the Affinity apps especially when you compare it the price of Adobe products.

@Katewels,

If I were in your boat/shoes/place I would save up to purchase the entire suite as a V2 Universal license. In my opinion even at full price it still hits the spot as far as value for money is concerned. But it is ultimately up to you.

And I would like to commend you for your attitude regarding @loukash's advice.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yeah, I know. Sometimes I tend to be a little bit too snarky… :)
