2.3 Spiral odd rendering when using butt cap stroke.

If you select butt cap stroke so that the spiral ends precisely at the end of the stroke, it does something odd. It cuts away a small section of the stroke. There is like a notch cut out of the brush stroke.

This is square cap rendering

If you expand the stroke to be very wide so that it should just appear solid, you can the see a hole cut out of the middle.
