I just installed the new version of the 3 products in the hope of an improvement when starting the programs.

I must say that when I open any of the programs, it takes a while to finish opening, even in the title bar I get the message "not responding."

In any of the 3 applications, if I press CTRL N, it takes about 11 seconds for the "new document" window to appear.

I clarify that this has been happening to me for a few updates and I was waiting for the next one (2.3) to request support.

I tried uninstalling the 3 products, cleaning by opening all the configurations with the Ctrl key pressed, instead of installing it from msix, I installed it from the msi and the result was always the same.

Please, I need a solution to this problem that has been going on for months.

Finally, use Google Translate to write in English, I apologize for any errors or spelling mistakes.

Go into....

...and switch off Hardware Acceleration (if enabled) to eliminate that as a possible cause

Thanks for your reply.
I did the test and it doesn't improve. I want to add something else, if I press CTRL N it takes a long time like I said before, but then if I press it again it takes 2 seconds to appear.

I mention this in case it helps to detect what may be happening.

Thank you
Rafael

Hi @Rafael Barbarella
The new document dialog should appear straight away, there's nothing really that can cause it to take time opening. If you have a lot of custom page presets or templates then perhaps this would slow it a little.

I assuming it's also the same if you use File > New instead of the keyboard shortcut?

Have you tried creating a new Admin user account in Windows, as a test?

Which version of Windows are you running?

I think I recall something similar (and perhaps logged as a bug) if one has a huge Assets category selected in the Assets panel. There was an icon-related category (shared in the Resources forum?) that could demonstrate this, as I recall.

Thanks again for your time. The good news was that when I created a new admin user, the application opened correctly and pressing CTRL N immediately opened the "new document" window.

I'm using Windows 11 23H2 [Version 10.0.22631.2715].

Any suggestions on what I should do to make it work correctly for my user?

In the meantime, I'm going to do tests to see if any program that I use with my user interferes with Affinity Designer.

I thank you again for your help and I apologize for my English from Google Translate.

I was able to do more tests, I compared the designer preferences with my user and with the new one created for the test (in which designer works well) and the configurations, in each section (color, performance, general, etc.) are identical .

I have also closed some programs that I use, stopped some services and other tests like that and in my user I still have the same problem.

@Rafael Barbarella: Does your new user (which does not have the problem) have the same Asset categories installed as your original user?

In the original user, is the Assets panel active, and if so what Category and Subcategory are active?
