Hangman Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 In Publisher v2.0.4 if the Move tool is selected when single-clicking a text frame this automatically selects the Text Frame tool and inserts the flashing cursor into the text and the point clicked. Doing the same in Publisher v 2.3.0 doesn't automatically select the Text Frame tool but simply selects the text frame with the Move tool still the active tool. To select the Text Frame tool inserting the flashing cursor at the point clicked requires a second single mouse click (rather than a double mouse click which selects a complete word)... This subsequently results in the context toolbar appearing as per the bottom image in v2.3.0 when single-clicking a Text Frame rather than the top image, something only seen when clicking and holding the mouse button on a Text Frame in v2.0.4. I'm unsure whether this change is intentional or whether we should still expect the 2.0.4 behaviour in 2.3.0, i.e., a single mouse-click to select the Text Frame and insert the flashing cursor. Old Bruce Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 How would I be able to move a Frame Text text frame if everytime I click on it with the Move tool I wind up with the text tool and the text caret inserted? As it stands now, using the Move tool I click on text frame One and then Shift + Click on text frame Two. There are situations where I cannot use the Marquee selection (click drag around the frames) method. I just don't think what you are describing would work for me. The behaviour you are desiring really sounds like a description of a bug to my mind. Such as? That seems to work as I would expect it to... 25 minutes ago, Old Bruce said: I just don't think what you are describing would work for me. The behaviour you are desiring really sounds like a description of a bug to my mind. Because? I'm just relating this to how it works in 2.0.4 though admittedly it works the same in 1.10.6 as it does in 2.3.0 but that was the reason for asking whether this is by design or whether the 2.0.4 behaviour was incorrect... The question was triggered by opening a document in Publisher 2.3.0 to see the context toolbar looking like this... It took me a while to figure out why as that isn't how it appears in 1.10.6 despite the behaviour being the same as it is in 2.3.0 when clicking a Text Frame... Technically it should appear like this... Staff Callum Posted December 4, 2023 Staff Posted December 4, 2023 Hi All, I have spoken to our development team regarding this and they have told me that the current behaviour (Not automatically switching to the text tool) is by design and that the previous behaviour seen in 2.0.4 was in-fact a bug. Thanks C MikeTO, Hangman and loukash 2 1 Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
