B·Ware Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 I have 1 adobe illustrator file that I need converted to SVG. Could someone with Illustrator do that for me? Quote
loukash Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 VectorStyler – which is currently on sale – can "crack-open" native *.ai files without PDF stream. Depending on complexity, the results can be useful although some cleanup will be likely necessary. Content exchange with Affinity apps then usually works via copy & paste pretty well, too. walt.farrell Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 @B·Ware: you could also try Photopea (photopea.com) as it claims to have support for .ai files. And the mentioned VectorStyler has a free trial period if you don't want to purchase. I just tested a few: Some seem to work, others don't. One of the *.ai files that worked is a layout (a multipage CD booklet draft, not even the final version) I created in FH9 over 20 years ago, then I converted it to *.ai about a year ago for archive purposes using AI CS5 but obviously I accidentally saved it without the PDF stream. (Note to self: resave!) But the result is less than useful. I can only see what the file was "roughly" about. Saving as PDF and opening in ADe displays quite a mess. VectorStyler, on the other hand, does a decent job on the same file. The typography would need some readjustments but the original graphics from Freehand seem to have translated pretty well. So if it's just for a one-off *.ai file, then a VectorStyler trial is definitely a good solution. walt.farrell 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2
B·Ware Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 The file in question states: This is an Adobe® Illustrator® File that was saved without PDF Content. VectorStyler did a decent job of opening it, but I haven't found a way to end up with editable text. Quote
