I am working on a document with Chinese characters, but they disappear after I export to PDF.

I created a test document and try to reproduce the problem, and it might be specific to NotoSansHK.

In Affinity Publisher, I have the Chinese characters in Grandstander (which doesn't have support for Chinese characters, hence the preflight warnings), in NotoSansHK (Google Font with Open Font License) and in DFKai-SB (a font that comes with Windows).

Despite failing the preflight, the Chinese characters in Grandstander show up fine in the PDF. The Chinese characters in NotoSansHK however becomes white space. DFKai-SB is also exporting fine.

I use Google Font a lot because of the Open Font License. I am confused about the license for fonts that come with Windows, so I don't use them for commercial work.

I guess I want to understand what the problem is, and if there is a way to fix it. (It is also annoying to find out some of my chosen fonts wouldn't show until I export them to PDF, as I have already done the layout around them. If I understand what makes some fonts problematic, I can avoid working with them in the future.)
